All Grown Up: 8 Idols Who Basically Matured With Their Groups

koreaboo - koreaboo

Before debuting in a K-pop group, many idols spend a lot of time together during their trainee days, and their bonds continue to grow as they share the same dorm and attend the same practice schedules on a daily basis.

Some idols, usually the maknae of the group, will leave their homes at a very young age to pursue their dreams. But because they’re so young, they end up being looked after by the rest of the members. With this in mind, here are eight idols who basically grew up with their groups!

1. BTS’s Jungkook

In early 2011, the golden maknae joined Bighit Entertainment in his early teens (being only 13), thus practically being raised by his fellow members ever since. Affection, laughter, and occasional pranks are all shared between the Bangtan boys as they keep showering their youngest with love.

2-3. GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom

BamBam and Yugyeom joined JYP entertainment at ages 13 and 14 respectively, and have been taken care of by their older members throughout the years. Between the teasing and the caring, the clip down below shows exactly the kind of relationship GOT7 shares with their youngest members.

4. SHINee’s Taemin

Despite being labeled as the evil maknae, Taemin has proved time and time again to be SHINee’s baby. Ever since he was 14 years old, he has been brought up by his fellow members for the past nine years, fully receiving their love and attention. This compilation captures the shining essence of the boys’ family-like ties.

5. f(x)’s Krystal

Although Krystal’s training days started long before the rest of the members joined her, she remains the youngest of the group as they debuted a few weeks before she blew the candles for her 15th birthday. During the last eight years, f(x) members have looked after her on and off the screen. The scene below shows the protective side of the unnies towards Krystal.

6. BIGBANG’s Seungri

Going from the risk of being eliminated to becoming a valuable member of his group, the victorious maknae has been part of BIGBANG since age 15, and has been fostered by his teasing but caring members to this date. During his appearance on the talk show “Taxi,” the four members not only lovingly expressed their feelings towards Seungri, but they also jokingly asked him to be careful during the broadcast, since his TV appearances are often deemed worrisome.

7. Gong Minzy

Dance machine Gong Minzy, who joined YG Entertainment at age 11, was mainly raised by the former 2NE1 members throughout both the exhausting training period and the years of fame that followed, before eventually choosing her own path. In the documentary below, the girls gave Minzy fashion tips while she was preparing to attend a rock festival. They also expressed their parental concern upon her growing up, and debated whether they should be cool or strict as parents.

8. Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun

While Seohyun is reportedly leaving SM Entertainment, her relationship with the Girls’ Generation members is definitely everlasting. For the past 10 years, she has been fondly taken care of and spoiled by her members starting from a tender age, and has even recalled her trainee days to being happy and heartwarming. The video below is a beautiful reminder of Girls’ Generation’s bond with their maknae.

Hey Soompiers, which other idols have basically grown up with their groups? Let us know in the comments below!
